The primary purpose of a Catholic education at St. Titus School is to
communicate Christ through religious and academic instruction. We
provide opportunities for each student to learn the good news of Jesus
Christ and to develop an understanding of the nature of the Catholic
church. Each student is encouraged to develop an appreciation for
our Catholic heritage, recognize the importance of a Catholic value system
in daily life, integrate daily living with the Gospel message, and grow in
a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
St. Titus School integrates religious truths and values with daily
living. To help students understand the full scope of daily living,
they experience various communities beginning with the classroom and
school and then broadening into the Church and town.
The learning program at St. Titus School is both content and process oriented.
Both are integrated into the school curriculum. Most subjects
involve acquisition of basic facts and demonstration of skills before the
student can proceed in understanding. We meet individual needs
through varying and utilizing outside resources.
Mutual respect and open communication among students are vital to the
student's experience at St. Titus School. Mutual respect encompasses
acceptance, appreciation and support of one another. Open communication in these
relationships is essential for the benefit of the student.
Policies are written under the Guidance of the Diocese and clarified,
implemented, and amended by the teachers and administration to be
understood by parents, teachers and students. Curriculum is
developed and updated by the Erie Diocese. The faculty revises and selects
materials to assure continuity at all levels and to provide necessary
skills for transition into junior high school. Teachers at St. Titus
are Christians who are directors of learning providing a productive
atmosphere according to individual teaching styles and students
needs. Teachers are formally evaluated by a three-pronged evaluation
process; initial assessment, observation form and evaluation form.
Basic criteria of assessment is provided by the Diocese of Erie.
Students are evaluated with regard to their own capabilities through daily
work, exams, classroom performance and application of knowledge. The
IOWA test of Basic Skills is also a component of our student evaluation
process.
St Titus School becomes the unique setting for students, teachers and parents
in which faith becomes living, conscious and active through teaching,
learning and serving. |
